Entertainment

Offering a snippet of Sami culture with its depth of tradition and content makes a deep, lasting impact. The jojk takes hold, the clothing is brightly coloured and beautiful. Each occasion is unique and is adjusted to provide maximum impact. Victoria Harnesk offers different programme formats in Swedish and English:

Inauguration jojk

This opens your event in a magnificent way – guaranteed to leave a strong, memorable impression. Suitable for inaugurations, product launches or on other formal occasions.

Mini-programme

Short programme (5 – 15 minutes) – captivating jojks that substantially enhance the atmosphere. Jojk is interwoven with good-humoured stories and certainly includes a gleam in her eye.

Stage performance

Rather longer programme (15 – 25 minutes). Similar to the mini-programme but going into more depth. Provides a little more knowledge, well suited to being on-stage during major events.

JazzÅjojk

JazzÅjojk is a trio comprising Victoria Harnesk (vocals and drums), Tommy Skotte (double bass) and Lars Gulliksson (wind instruments). Sami tradition meets jazz in an hour-long concert which holds nothing back. The links are natural because the roots of jazz music are in Africa and its development into what we call the Blues, the fact it is in the pentatonic scale and that it has had the ability to survive hardship and political repression.

Sound file (MP3 format) JazzÅjojk interprets Pork Pie Hat, by Charles Mingus

The jojk at Multeum last Wednesday was fantastically atmospheric. /…/ Very interesting and well conveyed music. The fact that it was included in the World Music strand is completely understandable since this variant is a good mixture of the Sami tradition from Arctic and sub-Arctic Scandinavia and North American jazz with its African roots.
